Site News: Pausing Subscription Billing
Hey, everyone. David here with some newsletter/website news.
The appetite for paid prospect content is not high at the moment. I rolled out my final Braves prospect reports for the 2020 season last month, and there is a lull until we reach spring training. Preview material helps fill the gap, but with the start of spring training delayed for many prospects, the gap is wider this year.
Also, it’s safe to say I won’t be attending spring training to compile notes and reports from the backfields. We all continue to wait to find out what access will look like once minor league games start, currently scheduled for May for Double-A and lower. That schedule remains uncertain right now. The value of my newsletter is largely centered on in-person evaluations that can’t be found elsewhere.
Many paid subscriptions are set to renew at the beginning of February when the newsletter started a year ago. With so much up in the air both inside baseball and out, I’m sure many could use a little relief.
With all of this in mind, I’m going to pause billing on paid subscriptions to the newsletter, effective Jan. 29. I will continue scheduled posting Mondays and Fridays but will post other days when something comes up. All posts will be free. This schedule will continue until we have a firm date for spring training and movement is made toward camp preparations. At that point, posting will resume to Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and I will re-evaluate the paid model.
More information:
The billing cycles for all existing paid subscriptions will be paused.
Paid subscribers will still have access to paid subscriber only content, but they will not be charged in the meantime.
Readers will not be able to sign up for a paid subscription.
Readers can still sign up to be on the free list.
Pausing effectively extends subscription windows for existing subscribers. For example, if a paid subscriber had 12 days left on their subscription, they will have 12 days left when paid subscriptions resume (based on a re-evaluation of the paid model).
